Staff Style: Becca

We adore this new maxi Becca is wearing. The colors, the detail up top, the fun zipper...oh, and the unbelievable comfy feel (the fabric is a mix of rayon and spandex). We've said it before and we will say it again—we love maxis! They are easy to wear, easy to think about, but oh so pretty to look at. If you think maxi's shorten you, this one is a must-try. The skirt of the dress starts high at the waist, lengthening you below. Oh, we can't forget to mention the adorable pockets in this one, too!

Staff Style: Meredith

This look on Mere is one of our favorites! The edgy aztec print short mixed with the girly lace sweatshirt makes for a fun, balanced look. We've paired these shorts with a ton of items (Check out old staff style posts!) but this new sweatshirt is adorable. Meredith is actually wearing it backwards! Yep, worn "frontwards" the top has buttons down the front. So this perfect casual but cute top can be worn as a cardie, too.

Staff Style: Chloe

Chloe picked up our Renee C sheer polka dot blouse and is already finding a million ways to wear it. She paired it with jeans, heels and red lips to celebrate the hogs this weekend in Dallas, and wore it at work styled with a cropped sweater and boots for an easy, comfortable look. We found some more inspiration for polka dots on one of our favorite blogs, Atlantic-Pacific. 

The white version of Chloe's top, it's easy to see you could pair it with a patterned short and tight.

She also got a little retro-inspired with her polka dot styling. We have quite a few vintage inspired polka dot looks below.

Today I'm mixing mine with my favorite striped blazer from Maude.

 My sweater ($8 at Old Navy) would look super cute with the top Chloe is sporting above (I think I'm going to have to get it!) The inspiration from Atlantic-Pacific below.

Style Update: High-Low Hems

This new take on hemlines snuck its way into our end of summer and fall shipments, but we have the feeling this trend is going to be huge this spring. High-low hemlines are fun, adding a little surprise to skirts, dresses and maxis. For those of us with shorter legs it also adds a little length to us. Long legs? It most certainly shows them off. Below are some photos of our current high-low styles. Which is your favorite? Staff Style: Jena

Shorts and tights are one of my favorite combos for winter. It's a fun way way to layer and wear more than pants when it's cold outside. These aztec-inspired shorts by Ark & Co. are one of my favorite pairs. They are comfortable, one...and the style allows me to dress them up or down. Last time I wore them with a pink sheer blouse and high-heeled booties. Today I chose to wear them as part of a more casual look. The other great thing? They are only $45!

Make It Your Own

I've had women ask me from time to time how I know 'how to dress.' Sometimes, I come up with looks on my own. But nine times out of ten, I copy, copy, copy. Pinterest is now a great place to look for style inspiration, but before that existed I would like at online sites like Forever 21 {great styling!} and various blogs to get ideas. I also draw inspiration from my co-workers constantly. Our owner wore a blouse, fur vest, and wide leg jeans the other day...which reminded me I have a fur vest, blouse and wide leg jeans. So, I wore it. 

When it comes to fashion I do believe there is nothing truly original. Even if you aren't gaining inspiration from a past fashion era, inspiration is drawn from cityscapes, nightlife, nature, you name it. The cool thing about fashion is how one takes what is already there and makes it there own.

When I saw the look of Lindsey of Saucy Glossie, I loved it and instantly thought of items we could put together to make it a Maude original.

This Motel tunic looks adorable on Meredith. The funky polka dots mixed with the pretty beaded vest create a great contrast. Pairing it with leggings and boots makes the look uber comfy. Chloe is at it again. Putting together an absolutely adorable outfit. (Which I am most certainly copying!) This lace shirt by Ark & Co is a staff favorite. The lace is gorgeous and the trimming on the top is not only elegant but fun. It certainly pops paired with the red short, but would also look great with a pair of jeans. It is certainly a timeless top. The shorts, certainly on trend being paired with tights, will remain timeless as well--especially if you are a Hog fan! Ladies, these are only $49, p.s.
